New to yoga?

You’re in the right place.

If you’re a Maui resident, start by purchasing our intro offer - it gives you 4 weeks to try out all we have to offer at the studio. That way you have plenty of time to try classes and decide if Wahi Hoʻōla is for you.

If you don’t want to jump right into a group class for your first yoga experience, you can grab our Beginner Package. You get a private, one-on-one yoga session to introduce you to the practice plus the 4-week intro offer to try all of our offerings after your private session. The experience is tailored to your needs and goals and your instructor can recommend all the best classes for you.

The studio opens 20 minutes before class time. Classes usually start with breathing to get centered, then build up to standing postures and finally wind down with poses closer to the ground. Every class ends with savasana (active, meditative rest…basically a short nap 😴). Beginners classes are geared towards teaching you the names of postures and postural alignment so you can familiarize yourself with yoga language. Every teacher has a slightly different style of teaching, we recommend trying them all to experience a range of teaching styles and decide what you like best.

The best classes for beginners are called Yin + Restorative which involves slow stretching and using lots of props. If you want something slightly more vigorous you can try Yoga Basics. We recommend starting slow, but trying every style of class, so you can really get maʻa (accustomed) to the studio before your make the leap into membership.

We have everything you need at the studio to get you started on your yoga journey. You can borrow a mat to use - you’ll probably want your own eventually, but ours are always available to use and we are happy to help you decide on the right yoga mat for yourself when you’re ready! Yoga props are available for everyone’s use and are a fantastic way to help your body get accustomed to the practice. All communal mats and props are cleaned after each use.

To cancel a class, do it at least an hour before it starts. Canceling within an hour or not showing up incurs a $5 fee.
