Massage FAQs

What should I do during my massage?

Some people take a nap or meditate or rest during a session while others prefer dialogue. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Feel free to change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable and please do not hesitate to ask questions or voice concerns at any time.

Do I have to get completely undressed to get a massage?

Of course not, you may undress to your comfort level, whether that is completely or only to your undergarments. I do ask that you remove items that can get in the way of the massage such as bras, jewelry and watches. You will be given privacy to undress and get onto the table beneath the sheets and we always use conservative draping methods to avoid inappropriate exposure.

Is massage recommended for everyone?

Mostly yes, but there are some exceptions. Bodywork is not appropriate care for infectious or contagious illness as it can exacerbate symptoms as well as risk the health of the public. If you are currently under a doctor's care, or have any doubts as to your massage eligibility please reach out and we will be happy to figure it out with you.

What are your cancellation and rescheduling policies?

We respectfully request at least 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments, you can find our full cancellation and late policies here. Please understand that when you forget, cancel, or change your appointment without giving enough notice, we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time, and clients on our wait list miss the opportunity to receive services. Therefore, we have a strictly enforced 24-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. Any appointment missed, late canceled, or changed without 24-hour notice will result in a charge equal to 100% of the reserved service amount.

Is massage covered by medical insurance?

Some medical insurance plans do cover massage, however Wahi Ho’ōla does not accept medical insurance for massage at this time. We do, however, accept motor vehicle accident insurance. If you have recently been in a motor vehicle accident and would like your insurance to cover massages, please contact us.

Do you provide any other services (wink, wink)?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. We are professionally trained and licensed massage therapists who meet all state and local requirements. To protect both our clients and our therapists, no inappropriate behavior will be tolerated. If you are interested in a sexual/sensual massage, you are at the wrong place.
